We’re back with our newest Member(s) of the Month! Say hi to John & Betsy Willis - also known at our most recent Halloween competition as John and Moira Rose from Schitt’s Creek. We hope you enjoy learning more about them and reading their responses as much as we did. 😂

1. How long have you been doing CrossFit?

• Betsy: I started December 2014.
• John: I started about a year or so later.

2. What is your favorite movement in CrossFit (and why)?

• Betsy: My favorite movement is my ability to stand up at the end of a hard workout.
• John: Anything body weight.

3. How did you get started in CrossFit?

• Betsy: Our daughter was a - how shall I put this - an “enthusiast”, and after much prodding she convinced me to try it out. I loved it!
• John: I felt left out, so I joined.

4. What benefits do you get out of working out together? We’ve been married over 36 years. You have to work at finding things to do together.
5. What class time do you usually workout?

• Betsy: The infamous 8:15 a.m. class.
• John: It varies according to my work shift but typically the 5:30 a.m. class.

6. Do you experience some healthy competition between the two of you during a workout?

• Betsy: Sometimes yes, but mostly John’s horrible lack of discipline spoils any meaningful level of performance comparison.
• John: Whatever.

7. Tell us something unique about each of you that we don’t already know.

• Betsy: According to John, people don’t realize how profoundly introverted I am.
• John: My favorite non-workout past time is aggressively cleaning floors at home.

8. Besides CrossFit, what other activities do you enjoy doing together? Dog walks on the beach, cooking, biking, drinking pina coladas and getting caught in the rain. (In case it’s not apparent, the last two are false).
9. What keeps you coming back to CrossFit WV? Crippling OCD and a lack of effective medications for such - and the people are fun!
